In some cultures, there is no word for “art.”  Instead, something that one creates is beautiful, that’s just how it is.  Another part of this, the same word for beauty also means balance, so in creating beauty you find balance within.  I usually feel a loss of words when someone asks about “art;” if I’m an “artist,” what medium, what do you paint?

There is a black and white idea in the western world about everything, and I do mean everything…you’re in a relationship or you’re not, you’re sad or happy, you’re poor or rich, you’re a good artist or a bad artist, and all of these are based on limiting definitions from society as a whole that we are taught to blindly believe, instead of creating truths from our own experiences.

Life is art because life is beauty; every step, voice, feeling, sight, moment, creation, taste, sound.  Beauty can be seen in anything when the present is living through us; when we do not use our minds to think about, control, judge, change how life is, life can live through us, we are merely vehicles for the soul, universe, whole, whatever you want to reside with.

That is art to me, beauty, moment, balance.  It is instant after instant of acceptance, what comes gracefully out of your head, your hand, your soul, your step, your song, your heart, there you have it…art, beauty, balance, life.
